TAGAYTAY CITY, CAVITE — If you have ever taken a weekend road trip up to Tagaytay to escape the tropical heat, you already know the unwritten rule: you cannot leave the city without treating yourself to a steaming, slow-cooked bowl of bulalo. The rich broth, tender beef shank, and creamy bone marrow have made this dish the ultimate comfort food for generations of travelers. But this coming Monday, eight local kitchens are teaming up to completely flip the traditional recipe on its head.
A Culinary Battle Like No Other
On September 21, 2026, the bustling center of Ayala Malls Serin is turning into an open-air culinary battleground for the highly anticipated Bulalo Cooking Show. This isn't your ordinary cooking competition. Instead of sticking to basic family recipes, eight of the city's top restaurants are stepping up to show off their wildest, most creative, and most unpredictable interpretations of the classic dish. In past local food challenges, chefs have shocked judges by serving up everything from fiery Kimchi Bulalo to Mexican-inspired Bulalo Pozole. This year, the teams are keeping their secret ingredients under wraps, promising flavors that will completely redefine how we look at beef soup.
Come Hungry and Witness the Showdown
The best part? The event kicks off right at 10:00 AM, making it the perfect excuse to skip your usual breakfast routines, gather your barkada, and head up the ridge early. Whether you are a casual foodie who just loves a good soup refill or a die-hard fan of the classic recipe, this showdown gives you a front-row seat to watch local culinary masters turn simple ingredients into modern art. Come hungry, find a spot near the stage, and watch live as these eight kitchens fight for the crown of the ultimate bowl. Ayala Malls Serin, an open-air mall along the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road, provides the perfect backdrop for this gastronomic event, with its cool highland breeze and scenic surroundings enhancing the overall experience. Whether you are a local resident or a weekend traveler, this is one culinary event you won't want to miss.
