Local Cooperatives Bring Products Closer to Consumers
BOHOL - Local cooperatives are bringing their products closer to consumers as the Bohol Cooperative Bazaar opens at the Capitol Lobby from October 5 to 9, 2026. Organized as part of the province’s celebration of Cooperative Month, the bazaar provides community-based enterprises with an opportunity to showcase their products while connecting directly with potential customers. Six cooperatives are participating in this year’s showcase, offering a diverse selection of agricultural products, processed food, handicrafts, and other locally made goods. The variety reflects the creativity and entrepreneurial potential of Bohol’s cooperative sector, where local resources and traditional skills are transformed into products with value for both communities and consumers.
Creating New Market Opportunities for Producers
Beyond displaying local products, the bazaar provides participating cooperatives with an avenue to strengthen their market presence. Direct interaction with consumers can help local producers introduce their products to new customers, understand market preferences, and develop connections that may lead to additional business opportunities. For cooperative members, stronger market access can translate into additional income and livelihood opportunities. Initiatives that help community-based enterprises reach wider markets can also encourage producers to continue developing their products, improving their skills, and finding new ways to make productive use of local resources.
Supporting Inclusive Growth in Bohol
The Cooperative Bazaar highlights the important role of grassroots enterprises in Bohol’s local economy. Cooperatives bring together people with shared skills, resources, and economic interests, creating opportunities for communities to participate more actively in local commerce. The initiative also supports the province’s broader goal of promoting inclusive economic growth and resilient, self-reliant communities. By creating spaces where locally produced goods can reach consumers, programs such as the bazaar help strengthen community livelihoods while encouraging the responsible use of local resources. These efforts contribute to sustainable development across the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark, where economic opportunities and community resilience remain important parts of long-term provincial development.
