PHILIPPINES — The Department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Department of Tourism and Rajah Tours Philippines, has officially launched the 2027 Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour: Winter Escapade Edition. The 11-day journey, scheduled for February 7 to 17, 2027, invites Filipinos and Filipino-Americans from the United States and Canada to reconnect with their roots.

A Special Edition for the Diaspora

The 2027 iteration marks a significant milestone as it brings together two beloved tourism initiatives: the Winter Escapade and the U.S. Very Important Pinoy Tour. This reunion tour creates a unique opportunity for participants from different parts of North America to explore the Philippines together. The launch event in Los Angeles on August 25 drew strong support from the Filipino community.

Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez emphasized that next year's edition will form part of the country's push to boost tourism and harness its contribution to economic growth. He said the initiative also helps Filipinos, especially the younger generation, rekindle their connection with the Philippines. The tour is designed to be both a homecoming and an adventure.

A Journey of Rediscovery

The tour begins in Manila, where participants can choose from several day-tour options. From there, travelers select one of five pocket-tour destinations: Leyte, Legazpi-Naga, Siargao, Camiguin, or Bohol. Each destination offers a distinct experience, from the historical sites of Leyte to the pristine beaches of Siargao and Camiguin.

The final leg of the journey presents two main itinerary choices. The Iloilo-Bacolod option highlights the culture, cuisine, and attractions of Western Visayas. The El Nido option offers several days of island experiences in Palawan. This flexible structure allows participants to tailor their journey based on personal interests.

Five Pocket Tours, One Unforgettable Trip

The pocket tours are carefully curated to showcase the Philippines' diverse offerings. Leyte offers a deep dive into World War II history. Legazpi-Naga features the iconic Mayon Volcano and Bicolano flavors. Siargao appeals to surf enthusiasts and island hoppers seeking laid-back vibes.

Camiguin enchants with its waterfalls, hot springs, and the famous sunken cemetery. Bohol impresses with the Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, and rich cultural heritage. Each destination provides a unique window into what makes the Philippines a compelling travel destination.

Accommodations and Inclusions

Participants can expect comfortable stays at reputable hotels throughout the journey. Manila accommodations are at Dusit Thani Manila, while each pocket tour has a designated hotel like Bellevue Hotel in Bohol or Kermit Hotel in Siargao. The main tour extensions use Marriott Iloilo and Citadines Bacolod for the Western Visayas leg, or Seda El Nido for Palawan.

The tour packages range from USD 1,658 to USD 3,205 per person. Inclusions cover accommodations, all tours stated on the itinerary, meals, services of an English-speaking guide, travel insurance, and on-site coordinators. Domestic airfare is quoted separately upon confirmation of registration.

Registration and Key Dates

Interested participants may visit the official website at www.viptourphilippines.com for complete details. The deadline for registration is October 15, 2026. Registrations after this date will be accepted subject to room availability and best available rates.

Cancellation policies require notice by November 15, 2026, for a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after November 30, 2026. These policies ensure that the tour operations remain smooth and that participants can plan their travel with confidence.

A Warm Invitation to Come Home

Philippine Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz, speaking at the Los Angeles launch, thanked the community for its strong support. He encouraged everyone to join the initiative and experience the Philippines anew. The tour promises not just sightseeing but a deeper sense of fulfillment from reconnecting with one's heritage.

Meg Ilagan, a past participant, shared her experience of the lasting impact the tour had on her. She spoke of the sense of fulfillment that came from reconnecting with the Philippines. Her testimonial highlights the emotional depth that the VIP Tour offers beyond typical vacations.
