SILANG, CAVITE - Silang Tourism and the Silang Historical Society actively participated in the 13th Local Historical Committees Network Assembly on August 25, 2026, at the Biñan Center for Culture and the Arts, reaffirming the municipality's commitment to preserving and promoting local heritage.

Silang joined fellow heritage advocates from across the region at the 13th Local Historical Committees Network Assembly, a regular gathering of local historical committees and cultural workers organized to strengthen collaboration in heritage conservation. The assembly, held at the Biñan Center for Culture and the Arts, served as a platform for sharing best practices, discussing challenges, and developing strategies to protect and promote local history.
The participation of Silang Tourism and the Silang Historical Society reflects the municipality's ongoing commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. Silang has a rich historical legacy, including the Our Lady of Candelaria Parish Church, which dates back to 1640 and remains one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, and is also the hometown of General Vito Belarmino, a prominent figure in the Philippine Revolution and the Philippine-American War.

Silang continues to demonstrate its dedication to promoting and preserving local history. The municipality's active participation in the Network Assembly aligns with the Silang Tourism Office's ongoing efforts under Mayor Ted Carranza to conserve and promote the town's cultural heritage. Earlier this year, Silang also hosted Historyahan 2026 at Munting Ilog Integrated National High School, focusing on the life of General Vito Belarmino and distributing books to students to ensure historical knowledge remains accessible to future generations.
