MINGLANILLA, Cebu — Cebu’s newest attraction blends play with discovery, offering families and students a hands-on journey through science. The Science Discovery Center at Anjo World Theme Park officially opened on August 13, 2026, inviting visitors to experience concepts like physics and natural hazards beyond the classroom.

A Playground for the Curious Mind

The center is a collaboration between Anjo World and the Department of Science and Technology Central Visayas (DOST VII). DOST supported the project by providing interactive science exhibits and access to its digital resources. This partnership turns complex scientific ideas into tangible, memorable experiences for learners of all ages.

From a game room featuring a laser maze to a natural hazards zone with an earthquake simulator, the facility is built for active exploration. Visitors can feel the rumble of a simulated earthquake and watch cyclones form in controlled displays. These immersive exhibits make abstract concepts feel immediate and real.

Table-Top Wonders and Everyday Science

Beyond the large installations, dozens of table-top exhibits invite close interaction. A Van de Graaff generator makes hair stand on end, while a Tesla coil demonstrates raw electrical power. Visitors can watch a vertical lightning ball trace glowing patterns and see light travel through optical fibers.

Other stations explore the human body, with a heartbeat sensor and an emotion stabilizer. Mechanics like a chaotic pendulum, a momentum machine, and a Bernoulli blower reveal the hidden rules of motion and airflow. Each exhibit is designed to spark questions and encourage a deeper look at how the world works.

Where Education Meets Entertainment

The experience is tightly linked to school learning. QR codes placed on the exhibits let students answer trivia questions aligned with the Department of Education’s MATATAG Curriculum. This turns a family outing into a structured educational field trip without the usual dry lecture format.

Teachers also gain access to DOST‑STARBOOKS, the department’s digital science and technology library. The resource offers additional reading materials that complement what students see at the exhibits. The integration ensures that the fun at the park continues to support classroom goals.

A New Destination for Families

The response from the community has been immediate, with more than 1,000 confirmed bookings already recorded for the center. It adds a major educational component to Anjo World’s existing 1.5‑hectare entertainment complex. Now, a day of rides and games can also include moments of genuine scientific wonder.

The Science Discovery Center strengthens Cebu’s position as a destination where learning and leisure go hand in hand. It provides a new reason for local families to visit and for schools to organize memorable excursions. The project reflects a growing effort to make science accessible, exciting, and part of everyday life.
