Eleven Computers, One Practical Upgrade
GENERAL SANTOS CITY - The General Santos City Government has turned over 11 computer sets to the General Santos City Police Office, with the equipment intended for the Women and Children Protection Desks (WCPD) of 10 police stations and the City Headquarters. The turnover was received by representatives of the GSCPO, including personnel from its Supply and Logistics Section and WCPD. City Mayor Lorelie G. Pacquiao attended the activity with Executive Assistant Lourdes Lu Lu Casabuena, City Administrator Shandee Llido-Pestaño, and representatives from the City Social Welfare and Development Office. Rather than being a ceremonial addition, the computers are practical workplace equipment for offices handling sensitive records and reports.
Giving WCPD Personnel Better Digital Tools
For the recipient desks, having dedicated computer equipment can make routine administrative work more manageable. The city government said the computers are expected to support documentation, reporting, and operational tasks connected with police services. This is particularly relevant to WCPDs, which handle concerns involving women and children and need organized records and proper documentation. A 2026 Philippine Information Agency report likewise highlighted the growing role of technology in WCPD work, noting how digital methods are being incorporated into the handling and documentation of cases involving gender-based violence. The new equipment therefore fits into a wider shift toward more technology-supported work within specialized police services.
A Small Equipment Turnover With Everyday Value
The contribution also shows how equipment can strengthen the less visible side of public service: the paperwork, records, reports, and coordination that keep frontline offices functioning. Across General Santos City, the government has continued introducing digital systems in its operations, including the electronic Business One-Stop Shop launched in January 2026 to simplify business permit processing. For the GSCPO’s WCPDs, the 11 computers provide a more direct operational benefit by placing additional digital tools in the offices responsible for women- and child-related police concerns. The turnover does not change the role of these desks; it gives personnel additional resources for carrying out responsibilities they already handle.
