CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, PAMPANGA - In a proactive move to fortify its digital borders, officers and executives of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) recently attended a comprehensive learning session focused on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI). The seminar, held on September 7, was organized in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to heighten cybersecurity awareness and enhance digital governance. According to the CDC, this initiative aligns directly with its ongoing campaign to safeguard digital transactions and cultivate heightened vigilance against rising cybercrimes.
A Secure Gateway for Digital Transactions
The modernization effort moves forward under the strategic guidance of CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera. DICT IT Officer I Marc Joseph Lumba steered the educational session, highlighting the PNPKI as a vital core government service. The platform functions by issuing digital certificates that securely authenticate and encrypt transactions across various state departments. Lumba emphasized that these specialized certificates facilitate the secure encryption of confidential emails, acting as a crucial shield to preserve the privacy and data integrity of all transacting parties. The PNPKI serves as the official government framework that creates, manages, distributes, uses, stores, and revokes digital certificates. With the PNPKI, verifying the identity of a user is easier and more reliable than ever, to the point that digital signatures may even be recognized as evidence in a court of law.
Hands-On Training and Operational Integration
The learning block concluded with an active open forum where CDC management raised operational inquiries regarding the platform's infrastructure. This was immediately followed by a guided, step-by-step activation of the PNPKI system, allowing participants to acquire hands-on familiarity with the software for seamless integration into their daily corporate workflows. The initiative supports the broader push for digitalization under the Marcos administration, which has emphasized that digital systems minimize discretion, eliminate reliance on fixers, and improve monitoring of public funds through clearer processes .
