TACLOBAN CITY — Under the guidance of Regional Director FCSUPT Aldwin M. Salazar, DSC, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 8 officially welcomed 161 newly absorbed Fire Officer 1 (FO1) personnel during a nationwide Oath-Taking Ceremony held at the Tacloban City Fire Station Multi-Purpose Gymnasium on September 1, 2026.
A Milestone Event in Regional Public Safety
The ceremony in Tacloban City coincided with simultaneous oath-taking events conducted across all BFP Regional Offices nationwide, marking the formal entry of these recruits into the fire service:
Pioneering Recruitment: The 161 newly inducted officers represent successful applicants from the BFP’s pioneering E-HIRE System, signaling a modernized era for bureau recruitment.
Strong Support Network: Members of the BFP Region 8 Command Group, regional officers, and families of the recruits attended to show support for the new officers as they embark on public service careers.

During his inspirational address, Regional Director Salazar emphasized that entering the BFP is a significant personal achievement, but wearing the uniform requires an ongoing, lifelong commitment to duty, discipline, and community service.
