ISABEL, LEYTE — Demonstrating that public service extends far beyond office desks, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Isabel spearheaded a comprehensive town-wide canal cleanup drive as part of the ongoing celebration of the 12th Civil Service Month. Bringing together municipal employees across multiple departments, the hands-on environmental initiative targeted key commercial and public zones to reinforce community cleanliness and public health.

Targeted Cleanup Across Key Municipal Zones

The coordinated sanitation efforts covered critical high-traffic areas, including Osmeña Street, the local market district, Sto. Niño Street, Judge Castor Street, and the frontages surrounding the local Mormon Church. Municipal workers rolled up their sleeves to clear clogged drainage systems and properly manage waste, ensuring that public thoroughfares remained orderly, sanitized, and fully prepared to handle seasonal weather patterns.

Visible Leadership and Inter-Departmental Collaboration

Mayor Bennet Pongos personally inspected the various cleanup sites to oversee the workforce, check drainage conditions around the market and port areas, and commend participating personnel. The successful operation drew strong collaboration from key municipal offices, including the MDRRMO, Engineering Office, GSO, BAO, MENRO, Traffic Management, PESO, and other vital local service units. Through this collective effort, LGU Isabel continues to champion environmental stewardship and civic pride across the region.
