CEBU — The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines opens its 2026 National Convention at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino from September 22 to 25, 2026. The gathering celebrates CEAP's 85th anniversary under the theme "Newness in Catholic Education: Charting a Constellation of Hope."
A Milestone Gathering in the Queen City
The four-day convention brings together Catholic educators, school administrators, and religious leaders from across the country. Delegates will engage in reflection, renewal, and shared mission as they chart the future of Catholic education in the Philippines. Cebu serves as the host for this landmark event.
The opening program includes a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy, D.D., Archbishop of Cebu. Welcome messages from Fr. Eduardo S. Celiz Jr., OAR Region VII Trustee, and inspirational remarks from Fr. Karel S. San Juan, SJ, CEAP President, will set the tone for the days ahead.
Addressing the Changing Educational Landscape
The convention features keynote speaker Prof. François Mabille, General Secretary of the International Federation of Catholic Universities. His address, "Newness in Catholic Education: Charting a Constellation of Hope," will explore how Catholic institutions can respond to a rapidly shifting global landscape.
Morning and afternoon concurrent sessions will tackle critical themes. These include newness in formative education, pastoral education, skills education, global education, ecological education, and civic education. The Industry Innovation Forum and the CEAP Sugbu Partners' Expo provide platforms for sharing best practices and exploring new technologies. The expo opens at the Atlantic Hall, showcasing products and services relevant to Catholic educational institutions.
A special conversation on advancing youth empowerment in education features Karel and Karlo. This session highlights the importance of student voices in shaping institutional direction. It reflects CEAP's commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Honoring Excellence and Service
The convention recognizes outstanding contributions through several awards. The Pro Deo et Patria Award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to God and country. The Most Inspiring Small School Award celebrates institutions that have achieved remarkable impact despite limited resources.
The Catholic School Heroes Award pays tribute to educators and staff who have gone beyond the call of duty. Jubilarians and new member schools will also be recognized during the awarding ceremonies. These moments of recognition inspire others to pursue excellence in their own ministries.
Spiritual Renewal at the Core
Daily Eucharistic Celebrations anchor the convention in prayer and reflection. Morning Praise sessions and Vespers provide opportunities for communal worship. The closing Mass will be presided by Most Rev. Charlie M. Inzon, O.M.I., D.D., Archbishop of Cotabato.
