MAKATI CITY — Home improvement retailer MR. DIY has achieved a major milestone with the opening of its 1,000th store in the Philippines, located at Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati City on May 29, 2026. The launch represents another significant step in the company’s expansion journey since entering the Philippine market in 2018 with its first branch in Balagtas, Bulacan. The newly opened store spans approximately 1,565 square meters and introduces the company’s first-ever "Elevated Experience Store," a refreshed retail concept designed to create a more engaging and convenient shopping environment. The new format features upgraded interiors, enhanced lighting, improved navigation zones, and lower gondola racks that make products easier to browse. Customers can also benefit from a simplified color-zoning system that clearly identifies sections for household essentials, hardware, toys, beauty products, gadgets, décor, and lifestyle items. Structural pillars throughout the store have likewise been transformed into interactive wayfinding elements to improve navigation.
Creating a More Immersive Retail Experience
While maintaining its well-known "Always Low Prices" promise, MR. DIY has incorporated human-centered design elements and lifestyle-focused visuals to make the store more welcoming for families and everyday shoppers. “Today, customers are looking not only for value and convenience, but also for shopping experiences that feel inspiring, enjoyable, and connected to their everyday lives,” said Roselle Andaya, Chief Executive Officer of MR. DIY Philippines. As part of the celebration, the company also entered into a memorandum of agreement with HOPE, a non-government organization dedicated to child welfare, education, healthcare, and disaster response. The partnership will support MR. DIY’s first Adopt-A-School Project, which aims to enhance learning environments for students.
Rapid Expansion Across the Philippines
The retailer reached its first 500 stores in less than six years, averaging nearly 100 new branches annually. Today, MR. DIY operates a total of 1,000 stores nationwide, serving customers across Metro Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Each branch offers more than 18,000 stock-keeping units spanning various categories, including hardware, household products, electrical items, stationery, toys, gadgets, décor, pet care supplies, beauty products, and lifestyle essentials. Beyond the Philippines, MR. DIY holds the distinction of being Southeast Asia’s largest home improvement retailer by store count, with more than 5,000 stores across 13 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Turkey, Spain, and Poland.
Grand Opening Celebration
To commemorate the milestone, MR. DIY is holding a three-day grand opening celebration from May 29 to 31 at Ayala Malls Circuit Makati. The event features inflatable attractions, interactive brand experiences, family-friendly activities, exclusive promotions, and giveaways for shoppers.
