ORMOC CITY, Leyte — Following nearly 11 months of temporary closure for extensive rehabilitation, the city government of Ormoc officially reopened Lake Danao Natural Park to the public, welcoming back tourists and nature enthusiasts to one of Eastern Visayas’ premier eco-tourism destinations.

The Ormoc City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) formally announced the lifting of the temporary suspension on water-based activities effective August 29, 2026.
Restored Access: Visitors can once again enjoy water-based activities, scenic views, and recreational facilities across the natural park.
Environmental Compliance: CENRO issued a public call reminding tourists, local businesses, and visiting organizations to strictly observe environmental regulations.
Protection of Biodiversity: Visitors are urged to practice proper waste disposal and follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve the lake's water quality and surrounding wildlife.
