Strengthening Bacolod’s Cultural Heritage Documentation
BACOLOD - The Bacolod City Tourism Development Office, in coordination with the Bacolod Arts and Culture Council, conducted the Face-to-Face Pre-Validation Phase of Cultural Mapping 2026 on September 4, 2026, at Conference Room 2 of the Bacolod City Government Center. The activity brought together cultural professionals and stakeholders to review and assess cultural properties and heritage resources identified through the initiative. Serving as presenters were the DepEd Cultural Mappers, who shared their documented findings for review, discussion, and further assessment.
Experts Help Verify and Strengthen Cultural Records
The pre-validation activity was supported by Hon. Em Ang, SP Chairperson for Culture and Arts and Vice Chairperson of the Culture and Arts Council, who participated as one of the validators. The process was further strengthened by the expertise of Dr. Pinky Pamela Guanzon, Mr. Rudy Reveche, Mr. Ricardo Salanap, and Mr. Romer Mones. Their insights helped verify information, identify gaps, clarify details, and improve the documentation of Bacolod’s cultural resources in preparation for the submission of the city’s Philippine Registry of Cultural Property (PRECUP) forms to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Through Cultural Mapping 2026, Bacolod City continues to document, recognize, and safeguard the cultural heritage that contributes to its unique identity. The initiative goes beyond identifying important places and properties, as it also helps preserve the stories, traditions, experiences, and collective memory connected to the city. By strengthening cultural documentation and recognition, Bacolod is taking important steps toward ensuring that its heritage remains remembered, valued, and meaningful for future generations.
