A Celebration of Bacolod’s History and Identity
Bacolod City will mark its 88th Charter Day with activities designed to honor its journey, achievements, and cultural identity. The celebration recognizes the city’s official charter anniversary and highlights the contributions of Bacolodnons who continue to help shape the community. Charter Day commemorates the signing of Commonwealth Act No. 326, which created Bacolod as a city in 1938, and continues to serve as an annual celebration of the city’s progress and heritage.
Honoring Outstanding Bacolodnons Through Awards
One of the highlights of the celebration is the presentation of the Ang Banwahanon Awards, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Bacolod’s development in areas such as culture, education, business, sports, and community service. The award is considered one of the city’s highest recognitions for citizens whose efforts have created a positive impact on Bacolod’s growth and identity.
Showcasing Culture Through Festival of Dances
The Charter Day celebration will also feature a Festival of Dances where barangays showcase their creativity through performances and cultural presentations. Alongside the parade, the event highlights Bacolod’s tradition of community participation, music, and dance, bringing residents together to celebrate the city’s vibrant spirit. These activities continue to strengthen Bacolod’s reputation as a destination known for culture, festivals, and the warmth of its people.
