The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) awarded ₱3.2 million in prizes to four local government units that emerged as winners in the Sandugo 2026 Street Dancing and Grand Showdown.
The awarding took place on August 8, 2026, as the provincial government continued its efforts to promote Bohol's cultural heritage, local talent and community unity. The prizes were turned over under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, recognizing the hard work and performances of the participating contingents.
Catigbian Takes Top Prize
Catigbian emerged as the Grand Winner of the Sandugo 2026 Street Dancing and Grand Showdown, receiving Php 1 million. The municipality also received special awards worth Php 300,000 for Best in Street Dancing and Php 100,000 for Best in Production Design. Other top-performing local government units were also recognized during the awarding. Loay received Php 700,000 as 2nd Runner-up, while Dimiao earned Php 600,000 as 3rd Runner-up. Antequera received Php 500,000 after placing 4th Runner-up.
Php 5.3 Million Set for Sandugo Prizes
The provincial government said the total budget allocated for all winning and consolation prizes reached Php 5.3 million. The allocation allowed other participating contingents to receive their respective prizes following the competition. The processing of Developmental Project Incentives for participating local government units was also ongoing.
Sandugo Celebrates Boholano Culture
Together with the Bohol Culture and Cultural Arts Division (BCCAD), the provincial government thanked the local government units, performers, choreographers, trainers, organizers and participants who contributed to the success of Sandugo 2026.
The annual celebration highlights Boholano culture and talent while bringing communities together through performances and cultural activities. The provincial government emphasized that Sandugo sa Bohol represents unity, culture, talent and Boholano pride.
Cultural Heritage Supports Bohol's Development Goals
The Sandugo celebration also supports the PGBh's Strategic Governance Roadmap and efforts to preserve Bohol's cultural heritage. The initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark, connecting cultural preservation with sustainable community development.
Through events such as Sandugo, Bohol continues to showcase its traditions while encouraging local communities to take part in preserving the province's cultural identity for future generations.
