Recognizing Exemplary Senior Leadership
BOHOL - Alvaro Gujol, head of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs in Calape, earned prestigious national recognition as a recipient of the Gawad Parangal for Exemplary Senior Citizen 2026. Gujol previously served as the Visayas Vice President for the National Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines. During a recent visit to Board Member Lucille Lagunay's office, he discussed ongoing welfare initiatives with local leaders. The official awarding ceremony is scheduled for October six at the MICE Event Center in Quezon City.
Expanding Community Care Center Networks
Collaborative discussions between municipal leaders and regional offices focused on establishing more Senior Citizen Community Care Centers across the province. Partnering with National Commission of Senior Citizens Region Director Jocelyn Tabotabo, local officials are spearheading this vital welfare expansion. Additional care centers are scheduled to open this coming October in Candijay, Duero, Loboc, and Calape. These specialized facilities aim to significantly improve accessibility to essential community-based support services for elderly residents.
Advancing Inclusive Provincial Governance
This targeted expansion of elderly support systems aligns directly with the provincial Strategic Governance Roadmap under Governor Aris Aumentado. By strengthening inclusive social programs, the administration ensures that senior citizens receive the care and recognition they deserve. Such dedicated welfare initiatives continue to foster an empowered elderly population within the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark. Through sustained partnerships, local leaders remain committed to uplifting the overall quality of life for senior constituents.
