A New DFA Service Center Opens in Tagbilaran
BOHOL - The Department of Foreign Affairs formally opened its new Authentication Hub on the fifth floor of Alturas Mall in Tagbilaran City on October 30, 2026. The facility is the 14th Authentication Hub among the 42 DFA Consular Offices nationwide. Its establishment gives residents a more convenient location to process public documents intended for use abroad. Instead of traveling to DFA offices in Cebu or Manila, applicants from Bohol can now access authentication services within the province, potentially saving time and transportation expenses.
Supporting Workers, Students, and Professionals
The hub provides direct authentication and apostille services for public documents, including birth certificates, academic records, and licenses issued by the Professional Regulation Commission. These documents are commonly needed for overseas employment, international study applications, professional requirements, and other transactions outside the Philippines. An apostille certifies the authenticity of a document's signature, the capacity in which the signatory acted, and the identity of the seal or stamp attached to it. This allows qualifying public documents to be recognized in foreign countries that are members of the Apostille Convention. Having a service facility in Tagbilaran can make these requirements more manageable for Boholanos preparing opportunities abroad.
Extending Document Services to Neighboring Provinces
The new facility is also expected to accommodate applicants from neighboring areas, including Leyte and Masbate. This gives the Tagbilaran hub a wider service role beyond its immediate location and may reduce the need for some applicants to travel farther for document processing. For overseas Filipino workers, students, professionals, and families handling international requirements, access to authentication services can make an important part of preparing documents more convenient. As residents begin using the facility, checking the DFA's current appointment procedures, documentary requirements, fees, and processing schedules will help ensure smoother transactions. The opening represents a practical improvement in access to government services for people pursuing opportunities beyond the country.
