Healthcare Comes Closer to Families
BOHOL - Residents can access medical consultations, laboratory tests, circumcision services, dental care, and free medicines without having to leave the island just to seek basic assistance. The caravan also connects residents with services from PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, and the Social Security System, while legal assistance gives community members another avenue to seek guidance. By gathering multiple services in one location, the initiative makes government assistance more convenient and accessible for island residents.
Support for Farmers, Livestock Raisers, and Students
The caravan also reaches beyond healthcare, providing practical assistance to different sectors of the community. The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist is distributing free seeds, giving local farmers additional support for their agricultural activities, while the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian is providing vitamins for chickens and pigs to help livestock raisers care for their animals. Students are also receiving school supplies, extending the caravan’s reach to families and young learners.
One Caravan, Many Ways to Help
The Calituban Island service caravan shows how bringing programs directly to communities can make public assistance easier to reach. With health, social, legal, agricultural, livestock, and educational services available in one community activity, families can receive support across several aspects of everyday life. For the 1,235 families benefiting from the initiative, the caravan is more than a government activity—it is a practical way of bringing essential services closer to home and ensuring that island communities remain part of Bohol’s continuing development.
