TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE — Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 8 officially began participation in the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Training under Pacific Partnership 2026 on September 14, 2026, at HJTG in Tacloban City.
Multinational Interoperability and Disaster Preparedness
Conducted under the guidance of BFP Region 8 Regional Director FCSUPT Aldwin M. Salazar, DSC, the joint initiative forms a core component of the mission's Disaster Management Line of Effort:
Multinational Mission Framework: Pacific Partnership 2026 serves as an annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster response mission designed to improve civil-military coordination and regional response capabilities.
Specialized Unit Leadership: The BFP Region 8 USAR deployment is led by FINSP Barry James J. Aurea, alongside dedicated personnel from the Special Rescue Force and regional BFP units.
Training Duration: The hands-on search and rescue exercise runs from September 14 to September 26, 2026.
