PASAY CITY — The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is intensifying efforts to attract investments in clean energy, digital infrastructure, and resilient supply chains under the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) announced the initiative following the Second Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Sustainable Infrastructure (ACSI) at the Philippine International Convention Center. The committee is advancing the ASEAN Sustainable Infrastructure Action Plan (SIAP) 2026-2030, which focuses on translating regional commitments into concrete projects.
The ASEAN Infrastructure Pipeline, a rolling mechanism for identifying priority projects, is being updated to reflect evolving priorities. These include sustainability, energy transition, digitalization, inclusion, and supply-chain resilience. Delegates also reviewed strategies to attract greater investor interest in sustainable infrastructure.
Philippines Leads with Prosperity Corridors
DEPDev Undersecretary Joseph Capuno, who chairs the ACSI, emphasized that these efforts advance the Philippines' ASEAN Chairship priority of building Prosperity Corridors. These corridors strengthen regional connectivity, deepen economic integration, and promote inclusive development. The initiative positions the Philippines as a central player in regional infrastructure growth.
Capuno expressed confidence that the momentum built this year will carry forward. Singapore will assume the ACSI Chairship in 2027, ensuring continuity of the sustainable infrastructure agenda. The transition reflects a shared commitment to long-term regional development.
