TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 8, in partnership with conservation organization Rare Philippines, will host the MMK Fun Run and officially launch the "Our Shared Sea" campaign on September 14, 2026.
Cash Prizes and Medals Await Top Track Finishers
The athletic event forms part of the region's observance of the 63rd Fish Conservation Week, combining physical wellness with marine ecosystem protection:
First-Place Award: The fastest male and female runners will each receive ₱3,000 in cash along with commemorative medals and gift certificates.
Second-Place Award: Runner-up finishers in both categories will take home ₱2,500 plus medals and gift certificates.
Third-Place Award: Third-place finishers across both divisions will be awarded ₱2,000 alongside medals and gift certificates.
Social Media Engagement Campaign Rewards Digital Advocacy
To amplify public awareness around marine conservation and the "Malinis at Masaganang Katubigan" (MMK) program, organizers have instituted digital engagement incentives for registered participants:
Speed Posting Category: The first three registered participants to publish public Facebook posts containing personal insights on the fun run, the "Our Shared Sea" campaign, and the Fish Conservation Week theme will earn gift packages valued at ₱2,500 (1st), ₱2,000 (2nd), and ₱1,500 (3rd).
Viral Reach Incentives: The five participants whose public posts accumulate the highest number of shares will each receive ₱1,000 worth of gift certificates.
Verification Requirements: Eligible social media posts must remain public, tag both BFAR Eastern Visayas and Rare Philippines official pages, and include mandated event hashtags announced during the opening ceremony.
