CEBU CITY — The Chamber of Real Estate & Builders’ Associations, Inc. (CREBA) concludes its 53rd National Convention today, October 23, 2026, at the Citadines and Radisson Blu Hotels. The three-day gathering championed the theme "Beyond Shelter: Creating Communities, Transforming Lives," urging the industry to deliver sustainable, inclusive developments rather than mere structures. The event highlights the evolving responsibility of developers.

A Vision Beyond Shelter

Coinciding with National Shelter Month, the convention reinforced CREBA’s advocacy of "A Home for Every Filipino." National President Noel “Toti” M. Cariño emphasized that real estate development must ultimately serve people, highlighting that the industry is built on human connections rather than just property transactions.

The event gathered developers, builders, architects, financiers, and government policymakers to address pressing housing challenges. Discussions focused on bridging the gap between public policy and on-the-ground implementation, ensuring that coordinated urban planning and responsible investment improve housing viability for Filipino families. It also explored international partnerships for the sector.

Aligning Government and Industry

The first day's Shelter Agenda featured the KSA Forum, moderated by Philippine Daily Inquirer Property Editor Tek Samaniego. Panelists from Pag-IBIG Fund and NHMFC discussed the current housing landscape, exploring how stronger government-industry collaboration can drive the next housing revolution and streamline the government's 4PH Program. They addressed housing delivery challenges and generational wealth creation.

Participants examined the need for responsive, accessible, and sustainable housing policies. By aligning public assistance with private sector capacity, stakeholders aim to overcome regulatory bottlenecks and ensure that affordable homes reach the intended beneficiaries across various economic segments.

Building Generational Wealth

Prof. Enrique M. Soriano led a compelling session on the role of real estate in building generational wealth. He highlighted how property transforms beyond a basic shelter into a strategic asset that shapes financial security, family prosperity, and long-term legacy for future generations.

This perspective shifts the focus from immediate consumption to long-term value creation. By viewing real estate as a foundational pillar for wealth, families can leverage property investments to secure their financial futures and create lasting economic stability within their communities.

Passing the Torch to New Leaders

The CEO Forum brought together the next generation of industry leaders: Ms. Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio of Robinsons Land, Mr. Jose Franco B. Soberano of Cebu Landmasters, and Ms. Valerie Jane L. Soliven of Rockwell Land. They shared insights on leadership, innovation, and succession planning.

The distinguished executives discussed how the next generation can carry the torch while challenging conventions and embracing change. Their dialogue highlighted the importance of adapting to emerging digital technologies and evolving market demands to shape a more resilient and competitive real estate sector.
