DIGOS CITY, DAVAO DEL SUR — The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur handed over ₱11.5 million in financial grants and rescue vehicles to 18 barangays during the Monday Convocation on July 6, 2026. The distribution, held at Tablizo Gym inside the Capitol Compound, directly equips local communities with resources for governance, water access, and emergency response.
Financial Aid Empowers Barangay Functionaries
Nine barangays received cash grants totaling ₱1.65 million to support the daily operations of barangay functionaries. Barangays Zone II and Igpit in Digos City each received ₱300,000, while Mahayahay in the same city was granted ₱250,000. Panaglib in Kiblawan secured ₱200,000.
Smaller but equally vital amounts of ₱100,000 each went to Barangay Waterfall in Sulop, Lower Malinao in Padada, Marber in Bansalan, Waterfall in Kiblawan, and San Isidro in Malalag. The funding strengthens the capacity of local leaders to deliver front‑line services to their constituents.
Water System Grant Flows to Kapatagan
Barangay Kapatagan in Digos City received ₱150,000 earmarked specifically for purchasing materials to install a community water system. The grant addresses the critical need for safe and reliable potable water in the upland barangay.
Governor Yvonne Cagas noted that access to clean water remains a foundational health priority. The provincial government intends to replicate the targeted water infrastructure support in other barangays facing similar supply challenges, ensuring that no community is left behind.
Eleven Rescue Vehicles Boost Emergency Response
A significant portion of the assistance involved the turnover of 11 rescue vehicles, each valued at ₱884,500. The units will serve as rapid medical transport and logistical support for Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees during calamities and health emergencies.
The recipient barangays include Kapatagan in Digos City, Mabuhay in Bansalan, Coronon and Darong in Sta. Cruz, Palili in Padada, Parami and Tanwalang in Sulop, Rizal in Malalag, Colonsabac in Matanao, and Dalawinon and Kanapulo in Magsaysay. These communities now possess a dedicated vehicle for swift evacuation and rescue.
Provincial Leaders Rally Behind Grassroots Development
Governor Yvonne Cagas and Vice Governor Marc Cagas led the ceremony, joined by board members, deputy governors, and Capitol employees. The event was hosted by the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office, reflecting the strong partnership between law enforcement and local governance.
The provincial government emphasized that sustained investment in barangay‑level capacity directly translates to safer and more resilient communities. The rescue vehicles and cash grants symbolize a shared commitment to bringing government services closer to every Davaoeño family.
