PALO, LEYTE — The Department of Education Regional Office VIII (DepEd Region VIII) and the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office VIII (DOST VIII) have officially entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to implement Project E-TURO, an artificial intelligence-enabled digital learning platform designed to enhance foundational education across Eastern Visayas.
Targeted Pilot Deployment and Academic Alignment
Project E-TURO utilizes AI-enhanced tools to complement standard classroom instruction, with a primary focus on boosting foundational literacy, numeracy, and digital engagement. Key operational details of the regional rollout include:
Pilot Scope: Initial implementation will target Grade 2 learners across selected pilot public schools in Tacloban City and Catbalogan City.
Curricular Integration: Platform content will align directly with DepEd K–12 curriculum standards to ensure technology supports, rather than replaces, core teaching practices.
Target Outcomes: Designed to provide structured, interactive digital tools that address learning gaps in early childhood education.

DepEd Region VIII Regional Director Dr. Salustiano T. Jimenez commended DOST VIII Regional Director Dr. John Glenn D. Ocaña for leading the initiative, noting that the partnership arrives at a vital juncture for the region’s learning recovery agenda.
