The Old Airport Area Could Become a New Business Center
BOHOL - The area surrounding the former Tagbilaran Airport is one of the most interesting places to watch as the city's economic landscape develops. The Provincial Government of Bohol has described the area as steadily developing into a future IT hub, while provincial planning documents have previously identified the former airport site as a potential central business district with space for IT services, BPO operations, tourism-related businesses, commercial establishments, and entertainment facilities. This makes the area worth watching not because it is already a fully developed business district, but because its planned direction could influence where future offices and commercial activities locate. For Tagbilaran, development in this area could eventually add another major business destination beyond the city's traditional commercial streets.
Cogon Is Already Showing Signs of New Business Activity
While some areas represent future possibilities, Cogon is already seeing new investment. In June 2026, Clear Insights Philippines Services, Inc. opened its first Philippine site at the Tayabas Building along Graham Avenue in Cogon District, Tagbilaran City. The Provincial Government reported that the company entered Bohol's growing IT-BPM sector and initially employed 66 talents, with a target of reaching 200 seats by the end of the year. The opening gives Cogon another connection to the city's expanding technology and professional-services economy and shows that emerging business activity does not necessarily have to wait for a new district to be built.
Planning for Bigger Business Opportunities
Another development worth following is the Bohol Business Park Masterplan, for which the provincial government opened procurement for consulting services in 2026. The project has an approved budget of ₱7 million and is intended to formulate a masterplan for the business park. Alongside this, the province has been working to strengthen Bohol's position in the IT-BPM sector and attract investments that can create employment and expand business opportunities. These developments do not mean every planned area will immediately become a major commercial center, but they provide useful clues about where Bohol's business environment could be heading—and give entrepreneurs, workers, and residents several areas worth keeping an eye on.
