CEBU — Essential healthcare services are reaching northern Cebu as the province marks its 457th Founding Anniversary with a series of missions. A three-day surgical mission began August 21 at Cebu Provincial Hospital–Bogo City, while today, August 22, a free medical mission opens to the public at Bogo Sports Complex.
A Mission of Care for Northern Cebu
Governor Pamela Baricuatro’s push to bring medical services closer to communities is taking shape this week. Families from Bogo and nearby towns no longer need to travel far for checkups and procedures. The missions are part of the province’s commitment to ensure that no Cebuano is left behind in accessing quality healthcare.
The surgical mission at CPH–Bogo will run from August 21 to 23. Patients were pre-screened and selected in advance by the surgical team, ensuring that those with urgent needs receive timely operations. This targeted approach allows doctors to maximize their time and serve more residents effectively.
Today’s Medical Mission at Bogo Sports Complex
A wide range of free services is available today from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 12:00 noon cutoff for the queue. Residents can access adult and pediatric checkups, chest X-rays, and random blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol testing. ECG and nutrition consultations are also offered to address long-term health concerns.
For patients aged 40 and above, free eye checkups and reading eyeglasses are available. Dental extraction services are also on site, providing immediate relief for those with dental issues. The medical mission is designed to address multiple health needs in one convenient location, saving families time and money.
Community and Government Partnerships in Action
The success of these missions relies on the collective efforts of partner organizations. Hospitals such as Perpetual Succor Hospital, Allied Care Experts Medical Center–Cebu, and VisayasMed Hospital have joined the province in this initiative. The Cebu Medical Society and JCI Zugbuana are also providing essential manpower and expertise.
Local government units, including the City of Bogo and the municipalities of Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Tabogon, and Tabuelan, have rallied to support the outreach. Their cooperation ensures that information reaches the families who need these services the most. This multi-sector collaboration strengthens the province’s capacity to deliver responsive healthcare.
People First, Service First
The Cebu Provincial Government remains focused on improving healthcare beyond hospital walls. By bringing services directly to communities and building strong partnerships, the province is making quality care accessible to every Cebuano. These missions exemplify the administration’s people-first, service-first approach to public health.
