Furry friends in Barangay New Lower Bicutan received a day of care as the Office of the City Veterinarian brought free veterinary services closer to pet owners through its Pet Caravan on October 7. The community program provided a range of services designed to support pet health, responsible ownership, and animal welfare, giving residents an opportunity to access essential veterinary care for their pets at no cost.
A Day of Free Care for Taguig Pets
The Pet Caravan served 146 pets through wellness consultations, while another 65 animals received deworming treatments and vitamin supplements to support their overall health. The veterinary team also administered anti-rabies vaccines to 53 pets and implanted identification microchips in seven animals. These services help promote preventive care while supporting efforts toward responsible pet ownership.
One of the major services offered during the caravan was spay and neuter, with 130 pets undergoing procedures as part of efforts to help manage the local pet and stray animal population. An on-site pharmacy also provided essential medicines for the continuing care of pets, benefiting 76 residents.
Bringing Essential Services Closer to Fur Parents
For many pet owners, access to veterinary services can be an important part of keeping their animals healthy. By bringing several services together in one community-based event, the Pet Caravan made it easier for residents to have their pets checked and cared for. The program also highlighted that veterinary assistance can cover more than vaccinations. Wellness consultations, deworming, vitamins, microchipping, spay and neuter procedures, and access to medicines all contribute to responsible and preventive pet care. Taguig's Pet Caravan program has previously offered free services such as veterinary consultations, anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, microchipping, and spay and neuter procedures.
Supporting Healthier Pets and Communities
Beyond helping individual animals, programs like the Pet Caravan can also contribute to wider community animal-welfare efforts. Responsible pet ownership includes keeping pets vaccinated, providing appropriate medical care, and taking steps to prevent unwanted litters. Making these services accessible within local communities can help pet owners address these needs more conveniently. The New Lower Bicutan caravan also reflects the importance of treating pets as part of the community. With free veterinary services brought closer to residents, more fur parents can take proactive steps toward keeping their companions healthy and cared for.
