Young People Gather for Mental Health Discussions
BACOLOD - More than 1,000 students from public and private schools across Negros Occidental recently gathered at the SM City Bacolod Sky Hall for the Global Youth Summit 2026. The event placed mental health and overall well-being at the center of conversations involving young people, recognizing the growing importance of creating supportive environments for students. Bringing participants together from different schools also provided an opportunity for them to exchange experiences and perspectives on issues affecting their generation.
Creating Greater Awareness of Youth Well-Being
The summit emphasized the importance of understanding mental health as part of a young person's overall development. Discussions encouraged students to become more aware of emotional challenges and the importance of seeking support when they encounter difficulties. By providing a space where these topics can be openly discussed, the gathering contributes to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and encourages young people to take their well-being seriously. The event also highlighted how schools, families, communities, and other institutions can play a role in supporting healthier youth.
Strengthening Youth Development in Negros Occidental
The gathering also demonstrates the importance of giving young people opportunities to participate in conversations that directly affect their lives. By bringing together students from across Negros Occidental, the summit helped promote awareness, cooperation, and a stronger sense of community among the participants. Continued initiatives focused on mental health and well-being can complement educational programs by ensuring that young people are supported not only academically but also emotionally and socially. Through greater awareness and stronger support networks, communities can help young Filipinos become more resilient and confident as they prepare for the future.
