TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 8 Special Rescue Force (SRF) gathered at RTR Plaza on August 26, 2026, for a high-level operational familiarization session on advanced disaster response vehicles and tactical gear.
Hands-On Mastery of Heavy Rescue Equipment
Initiated under the leadership of BFP Region 8 Regional Director FCSUPT Aldwin M. Salazar and supervised by SRF Chief FCINSP Vic Leonel L. Macasil, the training targeted the deployment, operation, and field maintenance of the unit’s key assets:
Primary Fleet Focus: Comprehensive checks and handling of the specialized Rescue and Disaster Equipment (RDE) Truck and the Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Truck.
Tactical Execution: Spearheaded by Acting Rescue Company Commander FINSP Barry James J. Aurea and facilitated by SFO1 Brian A. Dorosan, the session walked personnel through emergency scenarios requiring high technical proficiency and rapid tool deployment.
Operational Objective: Ensuring zero downtime and maximum handling speed when deploying specialized machinery during urban collapse, severe weather events, or major local disasters.
