MAKATI CITY — The Makati City Government, in partnership with various national agencies, will hold a Kadiwa ng Pangulo market day on August 27, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Baras corner Morong Street, Barangay Poblacion. The initiative aims to provide residents with direct access to affordable rice and other essential commodities, helping ease the financial burden on households. The program is part of the national government's ongoing efforts to improve food affordability and support local farmers and micro-enterprises by connecting them directly with consumers.
P20 Rice Program for Priority Sectors
A key highlight of the event is the P20 Rice Program, which offers subsidized rice at PHP 20 per kilo to qualified beneficiaries. Eligible residents include persons with disabilities, senior citizens, solo parents, 4Ps beneficiaries, and members of TODA and JODA. Participants are required to bring a valid ID to verify their eligibility. The city government reminds attendees to bring eco-friendly bags to help reduce plastic waste and support the city's environmental sustainability efforts.
A Continuing Commitment to Food Security
Through the Kadiwa ng Pangulo initiative, Makati continues to support efforts to improve food affordability and provide residents with easier access to essential goods. By connecting local producers directly with consumers, the program strengthens the local economy by keeping capital within the community and providing a stable market for agricultural goods. The program also encourages a culture of sustainability, promoting the use of reusable bags and reducing plastic waste.
