
PHIVOLCS Earthquake Advisory #1 - Earthquake With Magnitude of 5.4 Hits Cebu Area. 06 April 2026 – 3:22 PM – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 hit the area near the province of Cebu, based on the information released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The shallow earthquake happened at a depth of 10 kilometers, and its epicenter was located 17 kilometers south-southeast (35°) of Bogo City, Cebu (coordinates: 10.92°N, 124.07°E).
Intensity and Impact:
Because of its shallow depth, the effects of this earthquake can possibly cause violent shaking in the nearby places. Citizens from Bogo City, Cebu City, and northern Cebu municipalities should stay alert but composed because aftershocks might follow.
Based on the PHIVOLCS, there is no possibility of tsunami occurrence as a result of this earthquake; nonetheless, damages on buildings may be experienced.
