MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — For five days this April, the spotlight will shift from Manila to the province’s emerging eco‑destinations as Misamis Occidental rolls out the red carpet for the 50 candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2026. From April 21 to 25, the delegates will experience a carefully curated tour that blends natural wonders, heritage landmarks, and world‑class hospitality—all under the province’s “Asenso” brand.
A Week of Beauty, Nature, and Culture
The official schedule kicks off on April 21 with the candidates’ arrival at Ozamiz City Airport at 7:00 AM, where a grand welcome awaits. Later that afternoon, the Parade of Beauties will wind along the national highway from Sinacaban to Ozamiz City—a free public event that invites locals and tourists to line the route with flags and cheers. A welcome dinner at the Grand Pavilion will close the first day.
Showcasing Provincial Gems
April 22 is dedicated to tourism promotion. The delegates will visit three signature attractions:
- Sapang Dalaga Falls, a multi‑tiered waterfall surrounded by lush vegetation
- Caluya Floating Cottages, where visitors can relax over calm bay waters
- Asenso Global Gardens in Tangub City, a 191‑hectare highland park featuring international‑themed gardens and panoramic mountain views
Heritage and Glamour
On April 23, the focus shifts to heritage and nature. The group will explore Lake Duminagat, an 8‑hectare crater lake inside the Mount Malindang Natural Park, and the Cotta Shrine—an 18th‑century Spanish fort in Ozamiz City that now serves as a major religious and historical site. The evening’s Gala Night will be held at the Aya Hotel.
Swimsuit Competition at the “Maldives of Mindanao”
April 24 marks the most anticipated event: the Swimsuit Competition at the newly inaugurated Asenso Misamis Occidental Recreation and Adventure Park (AMORAP) in Sinacaban. Dubbed the “Maldives of Mindanao,” AMORAP boasts a dolphin island, mangrove conservation areas, and eco‑adventure facilities that have already attracted Korean investor interest.
Top 10 Reveal and Victory Night
The tour concludes on April 25 with the Top 10 Reveal—announcing the public‑voted semifinalists—at the Bayfront Arena in Oroquieta City. A Victory Night celebration at AMORAP will follow, bringing the five‑day pageant showcase to a festive close.
How Fans Can Join
Public viewing for the Parade of Beauties on April 21 is free. For the Top 10 Reveal, tickets are available at the Provincial Tourism Office (Oroquieta City), Ozamiz City Hall, and Asenso Global Gardens (Tangub City).
A Boost for Local Tourism
Provincial officials view the event as a milestone for Misamis Occidental’s tourism industry. By hosting the Miss Universe Philippines delegates, the province expects increased visitor arrivals, greater media exposure for its eco‑destinations, and long‑term benefits for local businesses.
