MAKATI CITY — The City Government of Makati, together with the Makati Health Department, the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and representatives from PAFP-MATAPAT, successfully organized a free medical and wellness program for senior citizens at the San Antonio Community Complex in observance of World Family Doctor Day.
Elderly residents who joined the event were able to access a range of complimentary healthcare services, including blood sugar testing, eye examinations, PhilHealth assistance, mobile X-ray services, vaccinations, wellness activities, and medical consultations.
Holistic Care for Senior Citizens
Aside from medical services, the program also included discussions focused on addressing health misinformation and fake news, along with orientation and registration for the YAKAP program. To further encourage relaxation and overall well-being, participants were also given free manicures, massages, and haircuts.
Present during the event were OIC-Makati Health Department head Dr. Bernard Sese, Division Head for Public Health Dr. Jane Tan-Rivero, Dr. Jovito Alebim, Dr. Daniel T. Roldan, Dr. Jerome D. David, as well as other healthcare workers and partner organizations involved in supporting community health programs.
The initiative highlighted the city government’s continued commitment to making healthcare services more accessible to elderly residents by combining medical assistance with wellness-focused activities that support both physical and mental health.
Observance of World Family Doctor Day
The activity formed part of the celebration of World Family Doctor Day, which honors the important contributions of family physicians in delivering primary healthcare and strengthening community wellness. Through this initiative, Makati City reaffirmed its support for family medicine and its dedication to addressing the healthcare needs of senior citizens.
