The Provincial Government of Negros Oriental brought employers, jobseekers, students, and partner agencies together for the Negros Oriental Job Fair 2026 and Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) Ceremonial Activity on August 11, 2026. Organized through the Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO), the event highlighted the province's efforts to expand access to employment opportunities and provide young people with valuable experiences as they prepare to enter the workforce.
Creating Pathways Into Employment
Job fairs provide an important opportunity for jobseekers to connect directly with potential employers. For young NegOrenses, events like the Negros Oriental Job Fair can serve as an introduction to the professional world, allowing them to explore available positions, learn about different industries, and understand the qualifications employers are looking for.
The gathering also brings employment resources closer to residents who may be searching for their first job or considering new career opportunities.
Supporting Students Through SPES
A major part of the event was the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), which provides participating students with opportunities to gain workplace exposure while receiving financial support. Programs like SPES can help young people develop practical skills and become familiar with professional environments before completing their education.
The experience can also help students build confidence, understand workplace responsibilities, and develop skills that may benefit them in future careers.
Government and Partner Agencies Working Together
The activity brought together representatives from different government agencies and partner institutions involved in employment and youth development. Among those who delivered messages during the program were Provincial PESO Manager Alein Serion Balsamo, DOLE Job Fair Focal Anita B. Melicor, OWWA Representative Vince Anthony Piñero Mijares, and LEO III–SPES Focal Person Edisa Christine B. Samson. Their participation reflected the importance of collaboration among government offices and partner organizations in creating more accessible employment opportunities.
