A Regional Assessment After the Holiday Rush

OZAMIZ CITY- PRO10's assessment covered the period from October 30 to November 2, 2026, when families across Northern Mindanao visited cemeteries and memorial parks to remember their departed loved ones. According to the Regional Tactical Operations Center figures reported on November 2, an estimated 679,129 cemetery visitors were recorded throughout the region as of 3:00 p.m. that day. November 2 alone accounted for approximately 300,129 visitors, reflecting the considerable public movement during All Souls’ Day. These figures provide an important reference for understanding the scale of the regional operation and the coordination required among police personnel and partner agencies.

Inspections Helped Maintain Order in Public Spaces

Beyond monitoring visitor numbers, police personnel continued security inspections in cemeteries and other public gathering areas. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 413 prohibited and contraband items, including cooking materials, lighters, bladed weapons, alcoholic beverages, and cigarettes. These inspections formed part of efforts to keep cemetery grounds safer and reduce risks associated with restricted items in crowded locations. The regional report also described the overall observance as generally peaceful, with no Undas-related incidents reported in its latest monitoring at the time of publication.

Public Cooperation Remains Part of the Success

A peaceful holiday operation depends on more than police visibility; it also requires visitors to follow safety rules, respect cemetery regulations, and cooperate with personnel providing assistance. The Philippine National Police had earlier directed regional units to prepare assistance desks, patrols, mobile teams, and emergency response arrangements for Undas 2026. For Ozamiz residents, the regional assessment serves as a reminder that responsible public behavior helps make visits safer and more orderly for everyone. The lessons from the holiday period can also guide improvements in crowd management, inspection procedures, and coordination for future public gatherings.
