ORMOC CITY — The Ormoc City Tourism Office, in partnership with the Department of Tourism – Eastern Visayas (DOT Region 8), is hosting an intensive 7-day Community Tour Guiding Training program from September 8 to 14, 2026, at the Athletes’ Dormitory inside the Ormoc City Sports Complex.
Building Skills and Empowering Local Tourism Ambassadors
Running daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the comprehensive program equips local participants with essential knowledge, safety skills, and professional communication techniques to showcase the best of Ormoc City:
Day 1 – Tourism Overview: Participants explored foundational tourism concepts and examined the vital role community tour guides play in local economic development.
Day 2 – Basic Life Support Training: Trainees learned critical life-saving techniques and emergency response procedures to ensure visitor safety on tours.
Day 3 – Commentary Development: Attendees focused on crafting engaging, informative, and culturally rich tour narratives for prospective travelers.
Day 4 – FBSE Training: The session emphasized the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE), refining interpersonal communication and hospitality standards.
Day 5 – Individual Speak Session: Participants stepped up to practice their presentation skills and receive constructive feedback in a hands-on environment.
Final Days and Culminating Showcase
As the 7-day training enters its final stretch, participants are preparing for practical applications and final evaluations ahead of graduation:
Day 6 (September 13): Trainees engage in advanced practical exercises and skill-refinement sessions to solidify their technique.
Day 7 (September 14): The program concludes with a culminating showcase, allowing participants to demonstrate their comprehensive tour guiding capabilities.
