SAN MIGUEL, Leyte — Vying for its first-ever Regional Local Governance Champions (RLGC) Award, the Municipality of San Miguel formally underwent a comprehensive regional evaluation on September 1, 2026, showcasing its commitment to transparent and responsive public administration.
Evaluating Local Governance Standards
During the evaluation, a six-member Regional Assessment Team reviewed San Miguel’s performance and public service delivery across ten key governance areas:
Comprehensive Review: The evaluation gave the local government unit (LGU) a platform to present its ongoing programs, operational systems, and community initiatives.
Technical Support: DILG San Miguel Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Melecila C. Labordo provided technical guidance to help LGU department heads prepare for the assessment.
Continuous Improvement: Beyond aiming for the recognition, municipal officials noted that the assessment offers valuable insights for identifying operational gaps and sustaining long-term improvements in public service.
As the LGU awaits the official results, the process highlights San Miguel's proactive efforts to align local administration with regional standards of good governance.
