TUNGA, Leyte — Public safety and night-time visibility across eight barangays in the municipality of Tunga are set for a major upgrade as local officials and regional monitors push forward with the Local Government Support Fund–Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF) Solar Street Lighting Project following an official site inspection conducted on August 26, 2026.
Joint Inspection Ensures Quality and Compliance
Engineers Ivan Jay C. Memoracion and Ginica P. Soria from the Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) of DILG Leyte visited the DILG Field Office in Tunga, where they were received by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Beauty A. Cinco.
The site validation coincided with the 3rd Quarter 2026 meeting and ocular inspection of the Tunga Local Project Monitoring Committee (LPMC). Key representatives present during the joint evaluation included:
LPMC Leadership: LPMC Chairperson and MDRRMO Engr. Remar Buranday, alongside LPMC Secretariat and MPDC Engr. Marlon B. Arintoc.
Barangay Leadership: Punong Barangay Hon. Fidelio G. Baac (San Antonio), Punong Barangay Hon. Antonio M. Asoy (Astorga), and Punong Barangay Hon. Alex Davocol (Balire).
Civil Society & Municipal Technical Teams: Representatives from the Pasaca Irrigators Association, Tunga Leyte BHW Humanitarian Volunteers, Inc., Municipal Engineer Teodoro A. Quintana Jr., MNRO-designate Gezelle Ann Bedua, and MEO Engr. Noel C. Astorga.
Tracking Progress Across Target Communities
According to the latest Statement of Work Accomplishment (SWA) presented during the meeting, the installation project currently stands at a 10.87 percent physical accomplishment.
The DILG Leyte PDMU team conducted the site inspection to evaluate early construction phase compliance against approved technical specifications and project schedules. By conducting proactive quarterly monitoring alongside the municipal government, DILG Leyte aims to address potential implementation gaps early, ensuring the solar streetlights are delivered to all eight target barangays without delay.
