180 Athletes Bring High-Flying Action to Inabanga
BOHOL - The Inabanga Gym came alive as the 2nd Sandugo Sepak Takraw sa Bohol Open Tournament brought three days of high-level competition from August 21–23, 2026. The tournament gathered 180 athletes representing clubs and local government units from across Bohol, including Balilihan, Clarin, Loon, Batuan, Inabanga, Valencia, and Sagbayan, alongside competitors from Mandaue City, Compostela, Cebu City, Cadiz City, Bacolod, Victorias City, Tandag City, and Butuan City. Spectators witnessed spectacular sunbacks, bicycle kicks, powerful spikes, and defensive blocks as teams competed across different divisions. The strong participation from different parts of the Visayas and Mindanao highlighted the growing interest in sepak takraw and provided athletes with an opportunity to test their skills against strong competition.
Top Teams Shine Across Three Competitive Divisions
The Women’s Open division saw Lantay Girlz B of Inabanga claim the championship, followed by Lantay Girlz A as first runner-up, Team Clarin as second runner-up, and Dohdoh Bohol of Tubigon as third runner-up. In the Men’s Open, Team Tandag City of Surigao del Sur emerged as champion, with Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias–CSAV A of Negros Occidental taking first runner-up, Lantay Boyz A of Clarin placing second runner-up, and Team Loon A finishing third runner-up. In the 17-Under Boys category, Team Tandag City again secured the championship, while Team Mandaue City A took first runner-up, Valencia Sepak Takraw Club A placed second runner-up, and Cadiz Whales Sepak Takraw Association Inc. of Negros Occidental finished third runner-up. The results showcased the depth of talent competing in the tournament, from established teams to young athletes developing their skills.
Sandugo Tigi Strengthens Bohol’s Sports Tourism Potential
The tournament was organized with the support of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), led by Governor Aris Aumentado, through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) under the flagship Sandugo Tigi stream of events, in partnership with Lantay Boyz Sepak Takraw Club Inc. By bringing together athletes from Bohol and other areas of the Visayas and Mindanao, the event helped create a platform for competition, sportsmanship, and athletic development. The initiative also contributes to efforts to preserve and elevate traditional sports while encouraging young people to participate in organized athletics. With events such as the Sandugo Sepak Takraw Open attracting competitors from different regions, Bohol continues to strengthen its potential as an emerging destination for sports tourism and youth athletic activities.
