Young Minds, One Nutrition Challenge

OZAMIZ CITY - The Asenso Ozamiz Nutri-Quiz 2026 brought together 42 contestants from public elementary schools in Ozamiz City for a competition centered on nutrition knowledge. According to the Schools Division Office of Ozamiz City, the quiz was held at the City Health Office on July 2026, with Faustino C. Decena Integrated School taking first place, followed by Malaubang Integrated School and Maximino S. Laurete Central School. The results show how school-based learning can extend beyond ordinary classroom activities, giving children a chance to recall information, think carefully, and demonstrate what they have learned about nutrition in a competitive setting.

Recognition Beyond the Scoreboard

The competition also gave attention to the teachers and school heads who supported the contestants. The Schools Division reported that awards and recognition for the Nutri-Quiz winners were scheduled during the culminating celebration at the Ozamiz City Gym. In the final results, Dennivie Ocampos of Faustino C. Decena Integrated School placed first, Clerk Apat of Malaubang Integrated School placed second, Danielle Bern Babayran of Maximino S. Laurete Central School placed third, and Waive Tampipi of Labo Central School placed fourth. The winners received cash prizes and medals, adding another meaningful moment to a month of nutrition-focused school activities.

Turning Nutrition Lessons Into Everyday Knowledge

What makes the activity noteworthy is the way nutrition education was presented through participation rather than simply through lectures or written lessons. The Nutri-Quiz formed part of a wider Ozamiz celebration that also included disaster-resilience activities and creative competitions. The Schools Division described the combined celebration as an effort to promote proper nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and preparedness among learners and the wider community. For young participants, a quiz can make familiar lessons more memorable: choosing nutritious food, understanding health information, and making informed decisions become ideas they can carry from school into daily life.
