Taguig City is strengthening its commitment to women's health by expanding breast cancer awareness, early detection, and access to screening services through its Ating Dibdibin Program. Through community education and free screening opportunities, the city aims to help residents better understand breast cancer risks, recognize warning signs, and access appropriate healthcare services. The initiative was highlighted during the city's Oktober 2026 Forum, which brought together around 400 Taguigeños for a day of breast health education, discussions, and access to screening services.
Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection Take Center Stage
The forum, themed “Take Your Breast Care to Heart,” focused on the importance of early detection and regular screening. Participants learned about breast cancer risk factors, common misconceptions, breast self-examination, and available healthcare services.
A Breast Cancer 101 discussion provided practical information on breast health and emphasized the value of seeking medical advice when concerns arise.
An educational video and a demonstration of clinical breast examination further helped participants understand the importance of proper screening and informed healthcare decisions. The activity supported the broader Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign, which carried the theme “Every Story Is Unique, Every Journey Matters.”
Ating Dibdibin Program Promotes Accessible Healthcare
The Ating Dibdibin Program continues to serve as part of Taguig's efforts to improve access to breast cancer screening, treatment support, and patient navigation. Free breast and cervical cancer screening services were also made available to participants during the forum.
Discussions highlighted the importance of involving patients in healthcare decisions and policy development. Patient advocates emphasized that the experiences and perspectives of people affected by breast cancer can help improve healthcare programs and services.
The forum also provided an opportunity for residents to ask questions about breast cancer and learn more about the support available through the city's healthcare initiatives. By connecting education with accessible screening services, the program encourages residents to take proactive steps toward protecting their health.
Community Support Strengthens Women's Health Initiatives
The forum highlighted the role of healthcare professionals, patient advocates, and community partners in improving breast cancer awareness and support for women. It also recognized the winners of the Pink Bestie Workplace Contest, which encouraged participation in breast cancer awareness activities. Katuparan Health Center took first place and received ₱15,000. Bagumbayan Health Center and Central Bicutan–DPWH Health Center tied for second place, each receiving ₱10,000, while East Rembo Health Center placed third and received ₱5,000.
The initiative reflects the importance of sustained community involvement in promoting preventive healthcare. By encouraging residents to share reliable health information and learn about available services, Taguig continues to strengthen its efforts to make breast cancer awareness and early detection more accessible.
