A Prestigious Event in the Asian Series
The TriFactor Triathlon & Duathlon series originated in Singapore in 2009 and has since expanded across Asia. The 2026 Singapore edition marked the 16th anniversary of the triathlon event, held at Castle Beach in East Coast Park. The standard distance course covered a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run.
The Singapore leg serves as a key stop on the Asian Championship Series. Over 20 qualifying slots for the TriFactor World Championships in Quzhou, China were up for grabs in October 2026. The strong Philippine performance positions the team well for future international competitions.
Building on a Strong Season
The podium finishes follow a productive year for Filipino triathletes. Reig has been in remarkable form, having previously topped the IRONMAN 70.3 Davao and secured an age-group victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu. Corpuz has consistently performed well in elite divisions, including a runner-up finish at the National Age Group Duathlon.
Hermosa, a Southeast Asian Games medalist, brought valuable championship experience to the team. His performances have helped the Philippines achieve success in regional competitions, including gold in the men's relay event at the 2025 SEA Games. The combination of youth and experience proved effective in Singapore.
A Growing Force in Asian Triathlon
The Philippines continues to make its mark in Asian triathlon with strong showings across multiple events. The national team's performance in Singapore demonstrates the depth of talent being developed through the Triathlon Association of the Philippines' programs. The athletes' dedication and hard work are yielding tangible results on the international stage.
The team's success also highlights the importance of sustained investment in training and development. With more qualifying events ahead and the World Championships on the horizon, the Philippine triathlon program is positioned for continued growth.
