Bacolod Hosts a Major Anniversary Race
BACOLOD - The Bacolod leg forms part of the 15 race venues selected nationwide for the 50th anniversary of the National MILO Marathon. This year's theme, “50 Years of Building Champions. One Legacy,” marks five decades of the running event in the Philippines. The Bacolod race will bring together participants across different age groups and running levels for a shared sporting activity in the city.
Four Race Categories Will Be Offered
Participants will compete across four categories: 21K, 10K, 5K, and 3K. All categories are scheduled to start and finish at the BCGC grounds, making the government center the main hub for the event. With thousands of participants expected, the race will also bring spectators, supporters, event staff, and volunteers into the surrounding areas as the city hosts the large-scale sporting activity.
Traffic and Safety Preparations Are Underway
The Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department (BTTMD), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and event organizers are preparing traffic management, emergency response, and public safety measures for the race. Temporary road closures are expected along portions of Burgos Extension and nearby race routes. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and allow additional travel time while the event is taking place. The marathon will also provide another opportunity for Bacolod residents to participate in sports and community activities while promoting active and healthy lifestyles.
