Expanding Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles
BACOLOD - Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya is looking to expand the number of charging stations available for electric vehicles as the use of EVs continues to grow. The mayor emphasized the need to provide more accessible charging facilities to support residents who are choosing electric-powered vehicles for their daily transportation needs. Additional charging stations could make it easier for EV owners to travel around the city without worrying about limited access to charging facilities. The initiative is part of broader efforts to prepare Bacolod for the increasing adoption of cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation technologies.
Making Electric Mobility More Convenient
Currently, electric vehicle charging stations are available in selected locations, including the Bacolod City Government Center and Ayala Malls Capitol Central. However, as more people consider switching to electric vehicles, the city may need to expand charging infrastructure to accommodate future demand. A proposed ordinance requiring fuel stations to provide electric vehicle charging facilities is also being considered by the Bacolod City Council. If implemented, the measure could significantly increase the availability of charging points and make electric mobility more practical for residents and visitors.
Supporting a Greener Future for Bacolod
The expansion of EV charging stations could help Bacolod City move toward a more sustainable transportation system while supporting the growing popularity of electric vehicles. Increased access to charging facilities may encourage more motorists to consider EVs as an alternative to conventional vehicles, potentially contributing to cleaner air and reduced carbon emissions over time. The initiative also positions Bacolod to adapt to emerging transportation trends and invest in infrastructure that supports environmentally responsible mobility. As the city continues to develop, expanding electric vehicle infrastructure could become an important part of building a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable Bacolod.
