A National Gathering of Young Athletes
BACOLOD - The city is preparing to welcome 35,894 registered participants from more than 200 local government units for the weeklong competition. The delegation includes 27,763 athletes, 6,144 coaches, and 1,987 officials who will participate in 30 sporting disciplines. Designed for young competitors aged 8 to 15, Batang Pinoy provides an opportunity for emerging athletes to experience national-level competition, develop their abilities, and represent their respective communities. The event also gives young Filipinos a chance to build confidence, discipline, and sportsmanship through friendly competition.
Preparing Venues, Accommodation, and Security
To accommodate the large number of delegates, the city has prepared 43 schools with a combined capacity of 30,996 beds for temporary billeting and accommodation. Panaad Stadium will serve as the main competition hub, while participating athletes will compete across different sporting venues. Security preparations are also underway, with the Philippine National Police coordinating measures to protect athletes, coaches, officials, and visitors throughout the event. These arrangements are intended to support an organized competition and provide delegates with a comfortable and secure stay.
Bringing Sports Tourism and Business Opportunities
Beyond the sporting competitions, Batang Pinoy is expected to create opportunities for Bacolod's tourism and business sectors. Visiting athletes may be accompanied by parents, guardians, and other family members, increasing demand for hotel rooms, restaurants, transportation, and local services. Small businesses and entrepreneurs can also benefit from the additional visitors exploring the city. With the return of this national youth sporting event, Bacolod has an opportunity to showcase its hospitality, culture, and community spirit while supporting the development of young Filipino athletes.
