Two Boholano Athletes Join the National Delegation

BOHOL - Jhul lan Cañalita and Zyx Alexander Apalisok are set to represent the Philippines in the 18th Southeast Asian (SEA) U18 and U20 Athletics Championships on November 6–8, 2026, at the National Athletics Centre in Pathum Thani, Thailand. Both athletes earned places in the national delegation after qualifying through the National PATAFA Championships. Their selection gives them an opportunity to compete against young athletes from across Southeast Asia while showcasing the talent and potential of Boholano sports representatives on an international stage.

Provincial Support Helps Develop Young Athletes

The Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Provincial Youth Development Office's PARTS Program, provided funding to support the athletes during their qualifying campaign. The Philippine delegation includes 16 athletes competing in the Under-18 and Under-20 divisions, accompanied by two Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) officials and two coaches from the University of Santo Tomas and Bohol. The athletes come from different parts of the country, including Bohol, Bacolod, Laguna, Metro Manila, Aklan, Bukidnon, Leyte, Cagayan de Oro, Masbate, and Ilocos Norte. This national representation demonstrates how opportunities for young competitors can emerge through training, qualification, and institutional support.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Boholano Sports Talent

International competitions provide valuable experiences for young athletes to test their abilities, learn from other competitors, and gain confidence in their chosen sports. The participation of Cañalita and Apalisok can also encourage other Boholano youth to pursue athletics and take part in school, community, and provincial sports programs. Continued investment in coaching, facilities, training opportunities, and competition support can help develop more homegrown talents. As the two athletes prepare to compete in Thailand, their journey offers an encouraging example of what dedication and community support can help young sports enthusiasts achieve.
