The 1st Bohol Bamboo Bootcamp 2026 is set to bring participants together for four days of technical training focused on bamboo propagation, construction and sustainable development. The event will be held from September 15 to 18, 2026, in Loboc, Bohol, with only 100 slots available.
Learning Bamboo Skills
Organized by the Bohol Bamboo Industry Development Council (BBIDC) in partnership with the Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club and hosted by the Local Government Unit of Loboc, the bootcamp will combine lectures, demonstrations, hands-on exercises and field activities.
Participants will learn about bamboo propagation, construction fundamentals, joinery and structural connection techniques. The training will give them practical knowledge that can be applied to future bamboo projects.
Building an Actual Bamboo Waiting Shed
One of the main highlights will be the construction of an actual bamboo waiting shed. Participants will work together to build the structure, which will later be donated to the Municipality of Loboc. The activity will allow them to apply the techniques learned during the first days of the bootcamp while creating something useful for the local community.
Bamboo Planting and Community Impact
The final day will feature bamboo planting, followed by the inauguration of the completed waiting shed and the bootcamp’s closing activities. The program aims to promote bamboo not only as a sustainable resource but also as a material that can support local livelihoods, community projects and environmentally responsible development.
Strong Local Partnership
The bootcamp is supported by the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), United Bohol Bamboo Advocates Inc. (UBBAI), and Department of Trade and Industry–Bohol (DTI-Bohol).
Through the collaboration, the organizers hope to strengthen bamboo knowledge and encourage more people to explore its potential in sustainable construction and community development.
