INDANG, CAVITE — Indang is proving that meaningful progress doesn't always require massive projects, as a modest farm-to-market road in Barangay Kayquit II earns the municipality top honors at the DILG CALABARZON SubayBAYANI Awards 2026.
A Small Road with a Life-Changing Impact
According to the DILG SubayBAYAN database, the project involved the concreting of a local access road measuring 123.5 meters long, 5.00 meters wide, and 0.2 meters thick, funded through the 2023 Development Fund with a total cost of PHP 1.5 million . Construction generated 64 jobs—26 in July 2023 and 38 in August 2023—providing immediate livelihood opportunities alongside the infrastructure itself . For the agricultural community of Kayquit II, where coffee, vegetables, and rice sustain local families, this road means easier transport of harvests, safer routes for students during the rainy season, and reliable access to essential services.
Recognition for People-Centered Governance
The DILG CALABARZON SubayBAYANI Awards honor local government units that demonstrate excellence in implementing locally funded infrastructure projects while maintaining transparent, timely, and complete project monitoring. Indang's recognition as Top LGU Exemplar for Region IV-A and Top Performer for Most Significant Change validates the municipality's commitment to responsive governance. The award ceremony, held on October 28, 2026, in Tagaytay City, places Indang among the region's finest examples of how thoughtful, well-monitored projects—regardless of scale—can create lasting change for the communities they serve.
