Cebu — The Cebu Provincial Government is stepping up its infrastructure and community support across island municipalities, committing P10 million for essential road improvements in San Francisco, Camotes. Governor Pamela Baricuatro personally announced the funding allocation during her official visit to the island on Monday, July 20, 2026. Accompanied by local chief executives and provincial officials, the administration's latest rollout aims to enhance transportation networks, streamline local trade, and bolster night-time safety for residents and motorists alike.
Targeted Infrastructure and Lighting Enhancements
The newly earmarked P10 million fund is dedicated to paving and upgrading vital thoroughfares within the town of San Francisco to ensure smoother transit routes across the island. To complement these road construction efforts and improve public safety after dark, the provincial government also turned over 1,000 solar lights slated for installation along municipal roadways. This dual approach of upgrading physical concrete paths while integrating sustainable lighting solutions ensures that rural connectivity is paired with modern, energy-efficient municipal infrastructure.
Grassroots Financial Assistance Across Barangays
Beyond major roadworks, the Capitol's visit served as a platform to disburse targeted financial grants to several local barangays to support community activities and operational needs. Barangay Himensulan received P250,000 designated for socio-cultural programs and the procurement of tents, while Barangay Cabonga-an was granted P150,000 for similar community initiatives. Additionally, Barangay San Isidro received P50,000 to purchase essential tables for public gatherings.
