BUTUAN CITY — In observance of the International Day of Cooperatives, 31 cooperatives in Butuan City joined forces for a clean-up drive at Bood Eco Park. The activity was spearheaded by the City Economic Enterprise and Business Development Department in partnership with the City Government of Butuan. The initiative highlighted the cooperative principle of "Concern for Community," one of the core values that guide cooperative organizations worldwide.
A Community Effort to Preserve a Public Space
Participants cleaned various sections of the park to ensure it remains clean and welcoming for visitors. The cooperatives also donated cottages for public use, providing additional comfort for those who visit the eco-park. The clean-up drive served as a practical demonstration of how cooperatives contribute to community welfare beyond their economic functions.
Cooperatives as Partners in Community Development
The City Government of Butuan expressed gratitude to all participating cooperatives for their continued support of environmental and community programs. The activity aligned with the global celebration of cooperatives, which took place on July 4, 2026. This year's theme, "Cooperatives for a peaceful world," underscored the role of cooperatives in advancing social justice, inclusion, and solidarity.
